New Wycombe signing Lewwis Spence has revealed that the prospect of first-team football at Adams Park was the reason he made the switch from Crystal Palace.

Spence rejected an improved contract offer at Selhurst Park and former boss Peter Taylor was quick to make the pacey winger his first signing.

But the 20-year-old does have some mixed feelings about ending his seven-year affiliation with Palace.

"I have a lot of admiration for [Palace] and people connected with the club," he told Croydon Today. "But I think it's the right time to move on. I just feel that I need the experience."

Spence started just two games for the Eagles last season and is eager for first-team action in the upcoming season.

"My main reason for rejecting that contract was because I wanted to get 30 to 40 games under my belt next season and I probably wasn't going to do that at Palace."
