Wycombe manager Paul Lambert shrugged off criticism of his side's hard-tackling image and insisted that Stephen Gleeson's late strike for Stockport had not changed the face of their play-off.

The former Celtic midfielder saw a combative central midfield pairing of Gary Holt and Tommy Doherty put in some stern challenges but insisted that was a vital factor in establishing a lead in the 1-1 draw.

He said: "I'm sure they were unhappy with some of the challenges from our boys but that's the game.

"I've never been involved as a player or manager in a game where the opposition will just give you the ball.

"The goal changes nothing. We are going up there to try to win the game and we will be ready for it.

"You will not get a better game in the league this year than the one you will see up there next Saturday."
