Wrexham boss Brian Little insists he had no other choice but to start from scratch following the release of 22 players since the club were relegated to the Blue Square Premier.
Little has just 11 players now in his squad but the former Aston Villa manager is confident he has made the right decision to clear the decks at the Racecourse Ground.
"I genuinely feel I need to change the team around - and if a few people disagree, they disagree," Little told Wales on Sunday.
"But I think, overall, the majority will accept this team needed changing ahead of next season and that's what we've tried to do.
"The club is in a better position off the field than it has been for several years and we have to change fortunes on it. From my point of view I'm not frightened to attempt what I'm doing."
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Chris Maxwell and defender Chris Marriott are to be offered professional contracts with the club when their scholarships run out this summer.
