Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is hoping to keep experienced defender Michael Gray at Molineux for a further year.
The 33-year-old has come to the end of his previous one-year contract but has still reported for pre-season training.
And McCarthy is keen to secure the left-back, who played 37 games last term, for another season.
"We're still waiting to see what happens but nothing's changed in that we'd be delighted to have Michael around the place," McCarthy told the club's official website.
"He's a fantastic leader and character around the place and is still a very good player. What we tend to forget is that he's only eight weeks older than when he left here at the end of last season.
"He was flying around like a kid last season and he's come back as fit as ever, so I'd like to keep him."
