Peterborough director of football Barry Fry has told Wolves to "put up or shut up" in their bid to sign striker Aaron McLean.
Posh have already rejected two initial offers from Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey and are demanding £3million up front for the 25-year-old, with a further £2m if the Black Country outfit seal promotion to the Premier League.
"To let everyone know in Wolverhampton, we won't be letting him go for less than I've told you," Fry told BBC WM. "Wolves are a proper club. They should be in the Premier League. If they bought Aaron he'd take them there.
"When I saw Jez last week we had a chat. I told him my chairman won't stand in the way, but he wants £3m up front, £2m if they get promoted, some add-ons and a sell-on.
"He said that's not going to happen, so I said that's the end of it. We won't let him go for any less. It's put up or shut up really, and go away."
McLean scored 33 goals last season as Posh sealed promotion to League One.
