Derby manager Paul Jewell has confirmed Premier League side Middlesbrough have joined the race to sign Swansea midfielder Ferrie Bodde.

Negotiations between Derby and Swansea have stalled over the Swans' price-tag for the Dutchman after the Rams latest bid of £2million was rejected.

Newly-promoted West Brom were also linked with a move for the highly-rated 26-year-old, who is understood to want to leave the Liberty Stadium in time for the new campaign.

Jewell told the Swansea Evening Post: "I would imagine there are a few clubs in for Ferrie because he's a good player.

"I know Middlesbrough were interested, so we're up against some decent competition.

"If West Brom are in for him, we've got to try to get over that hurdle. We'd just like the opportunity to speak to the player."
