Youth-team manager Paul Bodin firmly believes talented youngsters like Alex Henshall would develop more at Swindon than they would by joining a Premier League set-up.

The Robins` youth system has long been held in high regard but, due to financial concerns, the club have been forced to sell promising youngsters like Lukas Jutkiewicz and Ben Tozer in recent years. Yet that situation has now changed and they were able to reject two bids for Henshall last year.

Scouts from several Premier League and Championship clubs watched Swindon's latest crop of youngsters demolish Yeovil 6-0 in the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday night, along with many senior members of coaching staff, including Danny Wilson.

And Bodin is adamant his squad of players would benefit more if they avoided the lure of the more glamorous sides.

"There's a good conveyor belt of players here but what they need is a nice development programme and the opportunity to impress, which is why we try to give these young boys as much game time as possible," he told the club's official website.

He added: "We'd love to hold onto them and get them all in the first team but I don't think that's always going to be the case. But having said that, the club doesn't have to sell any more which is obviously a big bonus."
