Boss Roberto Martinez paid homage to the Swansea fans after they gave midfielder Ferrie Bodde a rousing reception during the side's 5-0 friendly win over Neath.

Bodde ran the risk of incensing the club's supporters last month by candidly admitting he wanted to join Derby before eventually penning a new deal at the Liberty Stadium.

The Dutchman was on target against Neath - along with Guillem Bauza (2), trialist Michael van der Heijden and Stefan Morrision - and Martinez was delighted to have the 26-year-old back in action.

"I never had any doubt he'd have a great reception," said Martinez.

"I know the Swansea fans inside out and I know they love passionate players.

"Ferrie is a passionate player and by committing himself to Swansea on a long-term contract - his actions speak louder than any words."
