Swansea midfielder Ferrie Bodde has ended a summer of intense speculation by signing a new long-term deal with the club.

Derby had two bids rejected for the 26-year-old Dutchman last month and the player himself was even quoted in sections of the media saying he wanted to move to Pride Park.

But Bodde - who had two years to run on his existing contract before penning an extension - has now staged a dramatic U-turn and apologised for his conduct.

"It's been a long nine weeks and my head has been all over the place," said Bodde, who was also linked with Middlesbrough.

"Yes, I've made mistakes along the way and I'd like to apologies to the Swans fans for all the uncertainty.

"I had my head turned by outside parties offering me the world and telling me that Derby was a bigger club because of their Premiership status last season. I was mixed up and thought Derby was a step forward."
