Swansea defender Angel Rangel fears he will miss the start of the club's Coca-Cola Championship adventure.

Rangel is recovering from groin surgery which has forced him to miss the Swans' pre-season tour of Sweden.

Swansea have not yet ruled the full-back out of the season-opener at Charlton on August 9, but the likelihood is that he will miss the first couple of weeks of the campaign.

"I think Charlton may be too early for me," Rangel told the South Wales Evening Post. "It's a big disappointment.

"Last season was very good for me and now we are all looking forward to starting out in the Championship. We all want to be part of the team that starts the season but I can't think about the first game.

"Right now I'm thinking about getting my recovery right and getting fit when I can, not about coming back for a certain game."
