Stockport have signed defender Johnny Mullins on a two-year deal from Blue Square Premier outfit Mansfield.

The defender made 97 appearances for the Stags, who have agreed compensation with Stockport for Mullins as he is under 24.

Mullins, who began his career at Reading, is looking forward to beginning his career at Edgeley Park and revealed he had been impressed with the club`s training facilities.

"The people I've met at the club have been very welcoming," he told the club's official website.

"The assistant manager, Peter Ward, took me up to Manor Farm to have a look. It's excellent, I've really liked what I've seen."
