Southampton continued their pre-season preparations with a comfortable 3-0 win over Salisbury.

Jason Euell opened the scoring in a scrappy first half, while boss Jan Poortvliet made 10 changes at the break and was rewarded by further goals from Bradley Wright-Phillips and David McGoldrick.

"Salisbury were a good side and they worked hard and made it a physical contest," said Poortvliet.

"I think we tried to match their style and that was a bad choice in the first half.

"There was a lot of simple play and movement in the second half, putting pressure on the ball, and that made the goals. The lads were in the mood to play and they were hungry."
