Southampton striker Bradley Wright-Phillips has revealed the team will be fully prepared for the new season.
Phillips, who joined the Saints from Manchester City in 2006, struggled to keep hold of a regular first-team berth last season after new boss Jan Poortvliet hauled the players back early to pre-season training last week.
But the 24-year-old is determined to prove himself during the 2008/9 campaign ahead under the new manager as the club seeks to put their off-the-field financial dificulties to the side.
He told the club's official website: "We've come in earlier than usual, and we've got a long time to get fit so there's no rush.
"Everyone's enjoying it and there's a few new lads who are just starting to get to know each other as well."
