Southampton new boy Paul Wotton is looking forward to working under the club's continental-style coaching system after completing his move along the south coast from Plymouth.

The 30-year-old midfielder ended his 14-year association with Argyle when he was released at the end of last season, and opted to join Saints ahead of a number of interested clubs.

Wotton signed a three-year deal at St Mary's after holding talks with coach Mark Wotte, who is assistant to incoming head coach Jan Poortvliet in Saints' new set-up.

"I met Mark Wotte and he spoke very well. I was impressed by him and the way he wants to play football, and how he sees me fitting in," said Wotton.

"This is all very new to me because I have been at Plymouth for a very long time but I will bring a fair bit of experience and I am looking forward to being part of what is happening here."
