Sheffield Wednesday striker Deon Burton has laughed off suggestions his summer exploits with Jamaica will leave him jaded for the new season.

The 32-year-old has played a key role in the Reggae Boyz' recent friendlies and the two big World Cup qualifying wins over the Bahamas. He scored twice in the 7-0 first-leg victory.

Burton told the club's official website: "I've been keeping really fit, playing well and scoring goals too, so that can only bode well for when I start the pre-season training with Wednesday.

"I've stayed injury-free out there so I will come back for training in great shape and at the top of my game.

"I can't wait for the season to start against Burnley. I should be going into that game feeling great with the pre-season training under the belt as well, so I'm firing on all cylinders and raring to go."
