Sheffield United goalkeeper Ian Bennett has signed a new one-year deal with the Coca-Cola Championship outfit.

The 37-year-old joined the Blades permanently from Leeds in 2006 after a successful loan spell with the Bramall Lane outfit.

He serves as understudy to Paddy Kenny and admits he is delighted to have committed himself to the club for another year.

Bennett told the club`s official website: "I'm really pleased to be staying and I aim to provide real competition for Paddy as well as back-up because I felt that I did well last year when I came in."
