Scunthorpe manager Nigel Adkins has revealed that he is interested in signing Leeds striker Tomi Ameobi.

The 19-year-old spent the latter part of last season with the Iron and has yet to sign a new contract offered to him by Leeds.

Adkins feels he may be able to persuade Ameobi that a permanent move to Glanford Park would be in the interest of his long-term plans.

"He's 19 years of age, he's 6ft 2in and he's a raw talent. I've tried to bring him to the club." Adkins told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

"Leeds have offered him a contract, but I can't see him figuring in their team.

"First and foremost we'd have to do a deal with Leeds, and likewise we'd have to make sure there's a position for the player to fill. We'll have to see what happens."
