Scunthorpe have told wantaway striker Martin Paterson that he will not be sold this summer.

The 21-year-old Northern Ireland international is desperate to leave Glanford Park to stay in the Championship. Burnley have had a £550,000 bid turned down and Norwich have also expressed their interest.

But a club statement said: "In light of recent interviews, Iron chairman Steve Wharton has spoken to Martin Paterson and explained the club's position to him.

"There is nothing further to add other than to re-iterate that Martin is not for sale."

Paterson has publicly declared he would be "a very unhappy player" if he was still at Scunthorpe next season.
