Scunthorpe winger Ian Morris has been forced to withdraw from the Republic of Ireland Under-21s squad.

The 21-year-old had been included in Don Givens' squad for the Intercontinental Cup in Malaysia this week, but has pulled out due to a foot injury.

Morris has undergone surgery this week to resolve the problem in time to rejoin the Iron squad in time for pre-season training.

Givens' young Irish side are scheduled to play Iraq, hosts Malaysia and Nigeria in the space of four days.
