Scunthorpe goalkeeper Joe Murphy has been included in the Republic of Ireland squad for two friendlies later this month.

New coach Giovanni Trapattoni has named a 28-man squad for his first match in charge - against Serbia at Croke Park on May 24.

The Irish then take on Colombia at Craven Cottage on May 29 and Murphy is one of three goalkeepers in the squad - along with Birmingham's Colin Doyle and Dean Kiely of West Brom.

Republic number one Shay Given is currently struggling with a groin injury, so Murphy is hoping to win his second full cap.
