Kevan Hurst insists Scunthorpe's players will all be better for their brief Championship experience.

Nigel Adkins' young side survived just one season in the second tier, but are determined to bounce straight back and Hurst is looking forward to the Iron's next challenge.

The 22-year-old told the club's official website: "We've all gained valuable experience. We went up as champions and the fans expected us to stay in the league, so we did feel pressure from that point of view.

"It's a stepping stone for us - we've gained experience, we've gained Championship experience, it's good for the young players.

"We're a young side, we have an average age of 22, so it's a good sign for the club for the future.

"I've gained a lot, playing against better players week-in week-out can only make you stronger. It's been a steep learning curve for us all."
