Castleford have performed an about-turn by handing second-row forward Ryan Clayton a new one-year contract after earlier announcing his release.
The 26-year-old former Halifax and Salford player was keen to stay on at The Jungle after playing in all but one of the Tigers' last 18 matches of the 2009 season.
"His form was very consistent in the second half of the season and, having considered other options, we felt that he could remain a valuable squad member," said Castleford chief executive Richard Wright.
Meanwhile, Castleford's former Hull KR hooker Kirk Netherton has activated a clause in his contract enabling him to stay for a second season after comfortably reaching the stipulated 20 appearances this year.
Tigers coach Terry Matterson is still looking to make one more signing to bolster a squad that currently numbers 23, and he plans to offer full-time contracts to two of the club's promising juniors.
