Italy kick off their RBS 6 Nations campaign with a tough opener against England at Twickenham but prop Martin Castrogiovanni says he will take to the field to win the match.

"We may need to improve but we are here to play and win. I always go onto the field to win," Castrogiovanni told Virgin Media. "Maybe we can't win the 6 Nations tournament but hopefully we won't finish last!"

Castrogiovanni added that the Italian side need to be more consistent in their mindset if they want to win matches regularly and singled out captain Sergio Parisse as their key man.

"Sometimes when we are the underdogs, we play better but when we know we can beat teams we sometimes don't do what we need to do. I think that it the big problem for our team.

"Sergio Parisse is the symbol of the team, he is the captain of Italy and Stade Francais and his skill is unbelievable."
