Rotherham face competition from League Two rivals Grimsby for the signature of Mansfield striker Michael Boulding.

The Mariners are the latest club to declare their interest in signing the 32-year-old. The Millers and Lincoln have already gone public with their interest.

Boulding, who scored 22 league goals as the Stags were relegated from League Two last season, has been offered a new contract at Field Mill but wishes to continue playing in the Football League.

Mariners boss Alan Buckley told the Grimsby Telegraph: "I have spoken briefly to Michael, but then I went on holiday and I think he is away now.

"We have made our interest known by making contact and we will see what happens. I know a lot of clubs will be keen on Michael's services."

However, Mansfield manager Paul Holland stated on Wednesday that he remains `very positive' about his chances of keeping hold of Boulding.
