Mark Robins believes he will be a better manager for all the problems he has endured at Rotherham this season.

Robins' first full season in charge, the former Manchester United striker replaced Alan Knill in March 2007, has been an eventful one with the club vying for promotion during the first half of the campaign, only to have those hopes shattered by administration and a 10-point deduction in March.

Robins had to finish the season working under a transfer embargo and he and his players had their wages deferred in order to help the club's financial plight.

"It has been a tough season, my first full one, and a real baptism of fire," said Robins. "But what I have been through and the things that have happened will certainly stand me in good stead throughout however long a managerial career I have.

"Certainly it has been an invaluable lesson in football management, although there are things I hope won't be repeated.

"But certain things will come out of it that may well help me in the future when I will be able to draw on the experiences of this past year."
