Rochdale boss Keith Hill is adamant he will not be forced to sell his key players because of the club's financial problems.

After losing David Perkins to Colchester at the beginning of July and with it looking likely midfielder Simon Heslop will join League Two rivals Port Vale, Hill is keen to secure the services of the remainder of his squad.

He told the club's official website: "We have got real valuable assets in our squad but I do not want to sell them because of the off-the-field plight of the club.

"We will definitely have the scope to bring players in, possibly on loan, or if we feel the need on a permanent basis.

"I want to best utilise that over the course of the season and do not want to be in a position where I have to sell a player at Christmas if we are going well."
