New Rochdale recruit Clark Keltie admits he faces stiff competition for a starting berth from Gary Jones and Ciaran Toner.

Midfielder Keltie, 24, joined Dale from Darlington on a one-year deal with an option to extend his stay.

But with Jones an established figure in the centre of midfield at Spotland, and Toner having arrived from Grimsby, Keltie accepts he has a fight on his hands.

He said: "Obviously I have now watched the likes of Gary Jones and Ciaran Toner in training and have played against them on many occasions and am looking forward to making a midfield unit with them.

"Gary Jones is obviously a real hard worker with ability and a big heart and along with Ciaran and myself we have three players who I feel will do a job in there."
