Port Vale manager Lee Sinnott insists mental strength will play a big part in determining whether his side are successful this season.

Sinnott has endured a disappointing start to his tenure at Vale Park having suffered relegation from League One just six months after taking the reins.

However, he is steadily building up his squad for an assault on League Two and will lay down clearly-defined goals during the close-season.

Sinnott said: "It's all about moulding a group to the way that you want it, bearing in mind the capabilities of each player of how they integrate into the team and setting out goals.

"It's easy to set out goals, the hard part is to understand and implement how we're going to get there. Those kind of mental aspects will be dealt with in pre-season."
