Port Vale manager Lee Sinnott insists he holds no grudges towards Danny Whitaker after the midfielder walked away from the relegated club.
The 27-year-old rejected a new deal with Port Vale to join League One club Oldham.
It ended six weeks of uncertainty surrounding Whitaker's future after the Valiants offered him a new contract at the end of the season.
"It was Danny's prerogative to choose where he wanted to go. He was offered League One football, and he's made his decision," Sinnott told the Sentinel.
"He goes with my best wishes and it's now a case of looking forward, which was the same situation when Paul Harsley left.
"I have nothing negative to say about Danny. I used to be a player and I know what it's like. Sometimes things move very quickly, sometimes they are drawn out."
