Southampton have completed the signing of former Plymouth midfielder Paul Wotton.

The versatile 30-year-old has put pen to paper on a three-year deal at St Mary's to become Saints' third summer signing.

Wotton was released by Plymouth at the end of last season following a 14-year career at Home Park during which he made more than 400 appearances.

He joins veteran defender Chris Perry and former Derby midfielder Lee Holmes in arriving at Saints ahead of the new Championship season.

"I am thrilled and honoured to be joining Southampton," he said.

"I was available on a Bosman free and there was interest from other clubs, but as soon as I heard Southampton wanted me I came down for talks. They are a great team and a fantastic club."
