Striker Rene Howe believes he is ready to reignite his Peterborough career and win a place in the first team this season.

The 21-year-old joined the club from Kettering last summer but was shipped out to Rochdale last season where he scored nine goals in 21 starts.

Howe inists he is now ready to knuckle down at London Road and impress boss Darren Ferguson.

"To become a regular and score goals that is what every striker wants to do," he told the club's official website.

"I do not know why I can't, it is there to be had.

"Hopefully I am going to be less of a target man and work harder. As a target man I did not work as hard as smaller players and that is what I want to get into my game this year."
