Peterborough have cancelled a proposed friendly with local rivals Cambridge due to slow ticket sales.

Darren Ferguson`s side were due to take on the Blue Square Premier side before their League One campaign, but have now called the game off.

A club official said: "We have tried to save the match by considering a range of options to advance interest but the major determining factor has been the increased base costs involved in just putting the game on."

Posh will still take on a Liverpool XI, West Ham and Manchester United at London Road next month.
