Peterborough director of football Barry Fry has revealed that he has offered a contract to Wrexham midfielder Mark Jones.

The 23-year-old, who has won two international caps for Wales and has been included in both Josh Toshack's most recent squads, is a free agent after announcing back in March he wanted to leave the relegated Dragons.

Fry told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph: "Jones is someone that Darren Ferguson has played alongside at Wrexham and he identified him as a lad who is worth bringing in.

"By all accounts he is a really good player who has been affected by a lot of injury problems. He is an international who can play in a few positions across the midfield.

"Due to Mark's injury history he has been offered a relatively short-term contact, but he won't cost us a fee because he hasn't been offered any sort of deal at Wrexham.

"Mark has been given until the end of the month to decide whether to sign and I know the manager has been in regular contact with him."
