Peterborough defender Jamie Day has revealed that this season's promotion campaign ranks as the highlight of his career and insists it was a "privilege" to be in Darren Ferguson's side.

The 22-year-old has already started to turn his attention to next season, but is determined to bask in the glory of securing promotion to League One.

Day told the club's official website: "I am one of the longest-serving players at the club and I have seen many ups and downs, but this season has been by far the biggest up I have been involved in.

"It has been fantastic this year and it has been a privilege to be a part of it. It is important now that we get the rest now over the summer and come back fresh for the new campaign."

Day moved to left-back from his natural position on the left of midfield and was pleased with his personal performances over the season.

He added: "I got a good run in the team and it was great to be a part of such a successful season. I have been happy with my form, I don't think I had a match where I really struggled. I have had to adapt to a new position as left-back was not a position I had played in very often."
