Oldham boss John Sheridan was pleased with the way his team started their pre-season campaign after a comfortable 3-0 win against Welsh Premier League side Rhyl at Belle Vue.

Goals from Craig Davies, Danny Whitaker and Lewis Alessandra were enough to complete a successful start for Sheridan's new-look side.

He told the club's official website: "No disrespect to Rhyl but I was pleased with the way we played, we looked sharp.

"It's all about fitness at this stage of the season but I was pleased with the work-out."
