Veteran Oldham goalkeeper Mark Crossley expects to be the club's first-choice goalkeeper this season - despite the arrival of Greg Fleming.

The 39-year-old former Nottingham Forest stopper finished last term as boss John Sheridan's first choice but, with the arrival of highly-rated Gretna keeper Fleming on a free transfer this summer, Crossley knows his place in the starting line up is not guaranteed.

"He is a really good goalkeeper and is the type of lad who wants to learn - all I can do is pass on what I've learnt and give him some hints and tips along the way," Crossley told the club's official website.

"I'm not going to try to change him, because every goalkeeper has their own technique and what Greg has is very good.

"I expect to be number one next year, but that doesn't mean I'm going to be. Obviously that's where I want to be because I enjoyed last season.

"I thrive on competition - it brings the best out of me and I think it will bring the best out of Greg as well."
