Oldham skipper Sean Gregan reckons the play-offs must be his side's main goal this season.
The Latics finished eighth last term - just two places adrift of a play-off berth - after a campaign which saw several key players sidelined by injury.
Veteran defender Gregan made just 19 appearances last term due to a recurring Achilles injury but he is confident his side can mount a stronger challenge this term.
He told the club's official website: "We've got to view the play-offs as a realistic goal.
"We weren't too far away last year despite injuries to the experienced core running down the spine of the team.
"Keeping everyone fit and adding one or two - which we have done - will be crucial this season. I see no reason why we can't be up there challenging if we keep most of our squad fit and available."
