Notts County manager Ian McParland is trying to seal the signing of two strikers from the club's training base in Austria.

Summer signing Jamie Forrester and Spencer Weir-Daley are currently the only recognised strikers at Meadow Lane.

Bishop's Stortford forward Greg Pearson, who was last season's leading goalscorer in the Blue Square South, has spent the last two weeks training with the club.

He played 45 minutes of County's 2-1 friendly win against Olympia Ljubljana in the German town of Bad Reichenhall on Monday, where winger Matt Hamshaw scored on his debut for the club in the opening minutes of the game before Jay Smith netted in the second half.

McParland told the Evening Post: "I am still in touch with strikers and I've got two targets that I can still possibly get. They are the ones I'm waiting for, and hopefully I can get them.

"I will be back on the phone even though I am in Austria, and I would like to have it sorted out as quickly as possible."
