Notts County new-boy Russell Hoult has spoken of his "new lease of life" after signing on a permanent basis on Wednesday.

Hoult, who spent four months on loan with the Magpies from Stoke last season, put pen-to-paper on a two year deal at Meadow Lane.

And the veteran goalkeeper insists he was delighted to return to the club after being released by the Potters.

He told the club's official website: "It's good to be back, and of course I am happy to be here.

"At my age and time of life, you want to play as much as you can really.

"Training all week and getting nothing out of it isn't enjoyable, but coming here was fantastic and it gave me a new lease of life."
