Notts County have signed veteran goalkeeper Russell Hoult on a two-year contract.

The 35-year-old impressed during a loan spell at Meadow Lane last season and Magpies boss Ian McParland moved to sign him on a permanent basis following his release from Stoke.

McParland said: "It's no secret that we've had a burning desire to bring Russell back to the club after such a successful loan spell with us.

"He is a terrific goalkeeper as well as being a great character and with Kevin Pilkington agreeing a new deal, it means we will have some real competition for places between the posts."
