Notts County have signed midfielder Adam Nowland on a free transfer following his release by Preston.

The 26-year-old will be reunited with County manager Ian McParland, whom he worked under at Nottingham Forest.

McParland is delighted to have Nowland under his wing again at Meadow Lane. He told County's official website: "I have watched Adam a lot over the years from his time at MK Dons and West Ham and Forest, so I know what he is all about.

"He is an accomplished central midfielder who is not afraid to get on the ball, dictate play and nick us the odd goal.

"I am confident he can do a good job for us and he will help freshen up the squad and provide real competition for places."

Nowland becomes County's third new signing during the close season, joining Michael Johnson and Jamie Forrester at Meadow Lane.
