Geoff Davey is to take a back-seat role when he steps down from his role as Notts County chief executive at the end of the month.

Davey, who has served two spells at Meadow Lane as chief executive and as managing director, will continue to be involved with the club - acting as a consultant to the directors for the next 12 months.

He told the club's official website: "I think the time has come for me to settle for a less busy and stressful existence.

"Despite the fact I was born and bred in Lincoln and spent 11 years at Sincil Bank as managing director, I feel closer to Notts County and have a greater passion for the club.

"I love the city and the people of Nottingham and have been well and truly sucked into the history and traditions of Meadow Lane. This club means a lot to me and I hope to be attending Notts' matches, home and away, for a very long time.

"Over the years I've had tremendous support from the directors and staff - past and present - and I would like to express my gratitude and wish them and the club every success in the future."
