Manager Billy Davies has revealed that he has been left surprised by the style and quality of football his Nottingham Forest team have produced so far this season.
The Reds are currently on a seven-match unbeaten run, as Davies has led his side into the thick of the early-season Championship promotion race after a slow start to the season.
Speaking ahead of Forest's clash with Bristol City on Saturday, the former Preston and Derby boss admitted on the club's official website: "I think the performances are better than what I thought they would be.
"I expected to do the same as I had done with my previous clubs, which is to go in and make us hard to beat. And then in year two and year three the flowing football comes along and you start to get a pattern to your play and a bit of stability.
"But I've got to say I'm really surprised how quickly the players have gelled and the quality of football they are playing. That has come a lot sooner than I expected, I'm delighted it's here and I hope it continues."
