Northampton chairman David Cardoza has admitted the club may find it tough to keep hold of manager Stuart Gray in the future.
The highly-rated Cobblers boss is already thought to have had interest from a number of Championship clubs but Cardoza insists he will do everything in his power to keep him at Sixfields.
Cardoza said: "It's not a concern but I think it is a distinct possibility in the future. Stability is the most important thing at a football club.
"We will cross that bridge when we come to it but he has committed himself to us for the next two years and we are delighted with that.
"We had been talking about his new contract for several months and it was important to tie him and his staff down."
Meanwhile, the club have revealed they have turned down a sixth bid from Nottingham Forest for goalkeeper Mark Bunn.
