Northampton defender Andy Holt has signed a new two-year contract with the League One outfit.

The 30-year-old is the second player to sign new terms with the Cobblers, following Ryan Gilligan`s decision to commit himself to the club.

"I am pleased that Andy has agreed terms, he is an excellent professional," said manager Stuart Gray.

"He is a versatile player and he has good experience in what is generally a young squad. He is good in the air and brings a lot of power to our left hand side.

"He has a good fitness record and that is also important. He is also a big influence in the dressing room and is an excellent example for the young players to look up to."

Northampton's only out of contract player yet to agree new terms is striker Adebayo Akinfenwa.
