New British Superbike champion Leon Camier has been given a chance to prove himself on the world stage during this weekend's FIM Superbike World Championship round at Magny-Cours.
Camier, 23, wrapped up his first British title at Silverstone last weekend and will race for the factory Aprilia team in France on Sunday as a one-off replacement for the injured Shinya Nakano.
He will return to domestic racing on his Airwaves Yamaha for the British season finale at Oulton Park on October 11 but is keen to make his mark among the best in the world.
He said: "I would like to thank Aprilia for giving me such an amazing opportunity.
"This year has been incredible. To follow my BSB Championship win with a ride on-board a proven race-winning machine in World Superbikes is awesome.
"It's going to be a tough challenge for sure. There'll be no time for testing beforehand, and I've never ridden at Magny Cours, but I'm really looking forward to it."
Xerox Ducati rider Noriyuki Haga regained the championship lead last time out at Imola, but is just three points clear of American Ben Spies.
Haga has won three of the last four races at the French circuit and will need to come close to another maximum haul if he is to keep ahead of the Yamaha rider.
Haga said: "I like the track and over the last years I've had some fairly good results there.
"I really need to repeat the double win of 2007 again this season and will go all out to do just that. Imola gave us good points, enough to regain the lead, but we only have a three point advantage so this weekend is extremely important."
