Valentino Rossi has targeted a return to winning ways at his home track this weekend as the FIM MotoGP World Championship moves to Misano.

Rossi, 30, looked certain to claim his sixth MotoGP crown this season after opening up a 50-point gap over Fiat Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo, but crashed out of last Sunday's Indianapolis GP. Lorenzo took advantage by winning to halve the lead and Rossi knows he is back in a fight for the title.

Rossi's hometown of Tavullia is only 14km from the circuit at Misano and he is hoping for a repeat of his win there last season. "I'm glad we don't have long until the next race because I quickly want to forget the mistake of Indianapolis," he said.

"Last year at Misano was incredible, to win in front of all my fans and so close to home was a great emotion and after missing out in Mugello this year we are really focused on trying to get the best result there.

"As usual my fan club will have a big party there so I hope that we can give them a good show, it's always great to ride at home.

"As we saw last weekend, anything can happen and the championship isn't over, we have to keep working at the maximum and just try to take as many points as we can each time."
