Mika Kallio has been ruled out of the next round of the FIM MotoGP World Championship due to a hand injury picked up at the last round in Holland.
The Finn suffered a deep wound on the third finger of his left hand in a fall on the final lap of Saturday's race at Assen and has been told he will need skin grafts in the coming weeks.
The Pramac Racing rider will miss this weekend's round at Laguna Seca in the United States due to the severity of the wound and the risk of infection.
"I was so excited to race in Laguna Seca, but I guess destiny wanted it to be this way and I will have to renounce," said Kallio. "It's a pity.
"We have taken this decision together with Pramac Racing Managers and I think this is probably the best solution.
"Laguna would have been a new circuit to learn for me and with a precarious physical condition we thought it would have been too risky."
Pramac will run with only Niccolo Canepa this weekend after electing not to replace Kallio.
