Coventry's Cal Crutchlow enjoyed a terrific homecoming race at Donington Park as he shrugged off the broken ankle he suffered in qualifying to take his fourth FIM Supersport World Championship win of the year.
Eugene Laverty, Crutchlow's chief rival in the title battle, together with Joan Lascorz tried to counter the Yamaha rider in the early stages, but Laverty crashed at the Melbourne Hairpion and Lascorz had to be content with second after Crutchlow upped the pace towards the end.
Laverty rejoined and worked his way back up the field from 22nd place to fifth overall.
Australian veteran Garry McCoy gave Triumph its first ever podium in Supersport by finishing third, while Kenan Sofuoglu could only finish fourth and is now 64 points away from the top of the standings.
Barry Veneman was sixth while Gianluca Vizziello scored his best result of the year in seventh.
