Leyton Orient have been handed a boost by the news that Wayne Gray will not need an operation on his medial knee ligament injury and should be available for the start of the season.

Gray, who sustained the injury in the 3-1 win over Bristol Rovers on the final day of last season, was feared to be set for a long period on the sidelines with surgery looking the only option.

But scans have since revelled the striker will not need to go under the knife and should be available for pre-season.
